For readers who are joining the Ever After Agency series part-way through (you haven’t read Book 1 yet), here’s a little backstory on a series regular, matchmaker Poppy Dean, who appears in all five books, including the latest I Knew You Were Trouble.
Matchmaker extraordinaire, Poppy Dean, is a personable, plucky and resourceful ex-pat Aussie, who prides herself on finding the perfect match for her clients, sometimes without their knowledge.
A former psychologist, she’s now an agent at the London-based, Ever After Agency, an elite organisation offering bespoke solutions to romantic problems.
Whether someone is seeking the love of their life, a fresh start in life and love, or just wants to keep up (loved-up) appearances for their nearest and dearest, Poppy will tailor a solution to meet their needs – discreetly and professionally – often taking an unusual approach. She’s even willing to go undercover if it means an HEA for her client.
Book 1: Match Me If You Can (SPOILER ALERT!)
When Tristan Fellows walks into the agency, Poppy knows she’s in for a challenge. A typical bachelor, Tristan has no intention of falling in love. But in order to receive a £30 million inheritance, he must marry before his 35th birthday.
This may be Poppy’s most difficult case yet, especially when she and Tristan start to fall for each other, something that is strictly forbidden for a matchmaker. But when Tristan turns down a perfect-on-paper prospective wife, then proposes to Poppy, she follows her heart and they marry on the eve of his 35th birthday.
Poppy throughout the series
Throughout the rest of the series, we follow Poppy’s life with Tristan (and their cat Saffron) and catch up with Poppy’s colleagues and close friends – a fun cast of supporting characters who appear in every book.
But the most important part Poppy plays in these books is to give readers insight into the main character. In Poppy’s own words: ‘I play many roles as a matchmaker: confidante, counsellor, cheerleader, conciliator, cupid…’
I hope you enjoy there Ever After Agency series as much as I enjoyed writing it and that you love Poppy as much as I do.
